Labour Councillors are delighted at the news that they have successfully challenged the decision by the Conservative administration to close nine children’s centres in Suffolk.
The decision means that the decision will have to be looked at again by the Cabinet and a halt will be called to the closure of the children’s centres in the short term.
It is noted that this is only a short term stay of execution, but next debate on the future of children’s Centres will be at the Cabinet meeting on the 24th February.
Opposition spokesperson for Children’s Services Bryony Rudkin said; “I am delighted that the weight of argument has won the day. Much needed Children’s Centres across the county are safe in the short term, but the fight to save them will continue.”
More will follow tomorrow.
