Labour County Councillor to provide £3,000 in Locality Budget funding to help refurbish an Ipswich Church.
Alan Road Methodist Church, which provides an accessible and friendly venue for community groups and activities – ranging from a pre-School Nursery to Badminton, Yoga and Baby massage classes – will receive much needed funds from Cllr Mandy Gaylard.
The refurbishment project, which begins this week, will see repairs and decorations to the Church’s ‘Beginners Room’, making it more suitable for the full variety of Church and community uses.
Church Property Secretary, Ray Whymark, said “Alan Road Church works to provide a safe and welcoming venue for the local community and has, over the years, become a popular mainstay of local life. It’s important, though, that our facilities are up to date and well-maintained, so this funding will really make a difference.”
Labour Councillor, Mandy Gaylard, said “Common spaces, where community groups and activities can safely take place, are an increasingly rare commodity. The Alan Road Church has been providing this service in my division for years now, so I’m very happy to hand them this cheque from my Locality Budget, so that they can continue for years to come.”
