Labour Group Councillors help the Bangladeshi Support Centre to expand and upgrade its IT suite with £3,000 in Locality Budget sponsorship.
The Bangladeshi Support Centre (BSC) is an award winning organisation and well-established pillar of the Ipswich and Suffolk community whose services provide vital support to thousands of people of diverse backgrounds in Ipswich.
The sponsorship being provided by the Labour Group will go towards upgrading BSC’s IT suite.
Mr Boshor Ali, Chair of Board of Trustees, at BSC, said “Many of our clients are currently struggling to access services that are increasingly only accessible via the internet. Upgrading our IT Suite will enable us to help some of Ipswich and Suffolk’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people to acquire basic IT and internet skills. With this upgrade, we will be able to run IT drop-in sessions for people in the communities to prepare their CVs, carry out job searches, pay their bills or council tax and other similar tasks.”
Cllr Mandy Gaylard, Labour Group Spokesperson for Localities & Environment, and one of the Councillors contributing their Locality Budget to BSC, said “The BSC is a wonderful initiative that improves skills and community cohesion in Ipswich – it truly is a stalwart of the Ipswich community! The Labour Group is delighted to be able to support the BSC at a time when its services are more needed than ever”.
